From the Blog...

Blog days of summer

The title of this entry really has nothing to do with anything... I just thought it was a funny headline.

It's been an interesting first half of the year.  I finally bit the bullet and hired my first employee... the same week that my father died.  So between the stress of payroll and the stress of grieving, I didn't get a lot of work done.  Accordingly, we didn't launch a single website between April and June.  It's not that we had nothing to do... it's just that the work was either upgrades for existing sites or ongoing work on larger, unfinished projects.

However, July looks to be the month of the launch.  We've already launched two brand-new sites (TLK Healthcare and Austin Gay Source) as well as two existing sites that switched to Site Street web hosting (Prographix and Arctic Star).  Plus, there are two additional brand-new sites in the final stages of development set to launch this week and two others still in the design phase that should launch by the end of the month.  That's eight sites in one month, for those of you counting.

The one encouraging thing is that 7 of the 8 new clients came from Austin... so while I seem to be doing well in Austin, there is a lot of potential to generate business in other cities.

To that end, I am looking for graphic designers in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and other cities in Texas.  Site Street outsources 100% of design work and while we've developed some great relationships in Austin we do not have any design resources in other cities.  By this time next year, I'd love to have 1-2 designers in San Antonio and 3-4 in Dallas and Houston.  Still, I won't turn away designers in any part of the country... I'm just focused on building my Texas business first.

Of course, I wouldn't mind hearing from some designers in the San Francisco bay area, Las Vegas, or Connecticut since I already have some significant clients in those locations.
