Below is the view from where I'm sitting at this moment as I write this blog entry. I'm spending the afternoon on Austin's Town Lake with my dog Gertrude, sitting on a park bench with a view of downtown Austin. As the most wireless city in the world, Austin has a city-provided wireless network which covers most of downtown and the lake park area. There are lots of people going by... some with dogs, some running, some families enjoying a beautiful summer Sunday in Austin.
I've often pondered what life would be like if I returned to the corporate world I left years ago. Certainly I'd be making more money than my small business provides but I'd also be hamstrung to an office during the week... and knowing me, I'd be working on the weekends as well. I already work the weekends but for myself, and in the setting that provides the best inspiration for my work and for my clients.
It's very soothing to hear Town Lake rolling by (since it's technically part of the Colorado River system), the sun coming in and out from behind the sporatic cloud cover, and knowing that I live in the greatest city in the nation and perhaps the world!
